What is Globalization?

We frequently wonder why many of the things or devices we use, say or see on a daily basis, are the result of a mixture of facts, processes and circumstances in the past. If we could count the number of things that are result of the globalization, we would have to start by the mere fact of waking up in the morning by using an alarm clock or a cellphone in which their manufacturing processes cross different borders or probably their components come from different countries. That picture of the man being woken up by the sounds of nature does not exist anymore or it is replaced by such devices that imitate those sounds. Once you wake up, you walk a few steps and find your bathroom full of plastic bottles you probably don´t need but they are there because while you are brushing your teeth you are watching cable TV, you see your favorite artist hawking a product that is designed for bold men, although you are not bold yet, but who knows, you may need it in the future. You walk some other steps and go to the kitchen and open a box of cereal, even though it is not the traditional meal in your country, but dude, you are busy and there is no time for traditional cooking. Moreover, that cereal is promoted by your favorite artist, he has a bowl of such cereal every day and also that cereal promises to control your weight, even though you are not overweighed, but who knows, you never know. If I continue mentioning the same routine, you discover that all the things you do, consume, think, communicate, show off, read, see, are the result of a process called globalization. But the first distinction I need to do is that it is a process, you can define it like that, the same way there was a time called industrial revolution, our time is the globalization era. Perhaps in the future there will be something called neo globalization or globalization 2.0, although the process is not casualty, the last century, the twentieth century or even before that, some facts and drivers started to shape the idea of a globalized world. In summary, if you are asked to define it, you can say it is a process in which many stages happened to mature it and it has either positive and negative effects and can be replaced by another process in the future. The question is how soon?
